Let's Start Off with Prayer

Updated: Sep 8, 2018

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.

-1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

I keep finding myself wondering if putting all this energy into Vlogging, Blogging, Insta and "all the things" is what God wants OR if it is the devil's way of distracting me from the work that needs to be done on the program we are developing?

Because y'all... this stuff hurts my head.

I am the worlds worst speller and grammar is not my forte, so what the heck am I doing writing? I give mad props to actors and vloggers because I have too short of an attention span to remember what I even sat down to talk about... You do not even what to KNOW how long it first took me to record some of the first episodes.

But as I sit on my porch enjoying the slight breeze in the hot, semi-muggy summer evening, I stopped to lift all this up in prayer. Prayer for closed doors if this is just a distraction and open doors if this is His will.

And all I found was peace.

I am excited at the opportunity for people to learn about the work we are doing through Be the Change. I am incredibly proud of the new program we are developing. I am forever grateful for the lesson I learned on my morning jog (learn more about it HERE) and for having the courage to act on it.

But here is what I am going to pray HARD about...

I do not know what. it. is. about people who think it is better for someone to go around with broccoli in their teeth rather than just telling them they have Groot waving hello from their tooth?!

Y'all, I am going to be praying long and hard that all these social media post become open doors for a tribe to be built around Be the Change. A tribe who cares more about the patients we are serving around the world than thinking they are going to hurt my lil 'ol feelings.

Because there are going to be times I have broccoli in my teeth and I would hope you would tell me.

There are going to be times I am doing something a certain way, but there are better ways of doing it. I am going to miss something that seems super obvious, but that's what blind spots are. I am going to interpret the medical guidelines one way, but you have seen it in practice differently. Nothing is set in stone.

Please have the courage to tell me. I can handle it. I can be told I am wrong. (Granted there is such thing as being tactful... just saying...) The point is, I need to hear these things. Our patients need to hear them even more.

It is going to take a tribe to ensure Be the Change is providing the absolute best medical care to our global communities and that is what I am inviting you to join by coming along side of us on this Behind-the-Scene Journey.

So as 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says: I am going to rejoice always for those of you who join our tribe, I am going to pray without ceasing that you would have the courage to give constructive criticism (even when it is hard) and I am going to give thanks in all circumstances because I know there are going to be meanies with bad intentions who do not know the difference. (Let's be real) So I'll tack on a prayer for discernment hehe
